About Las Colcheras Quilt Guild

Background

We are a diverse group of quilters who meet together to share our talents, knowledge, and friendship. The Quilt Guild was formed in January 1988, with about 25 women who met at the County Extension Office and shared their love of quilting.

Mission Statement

Las Colcheras Quilt Guild is dedicated to promoting the art of quilting in the Mesilla Valley. The Guild endorses the philosophy of community service and engages in activities that support that philosophy.

Meetings

Las Colcheras Quilt Guild General Meetings are held on the second Monday of every month at 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. Occasionally a change is required to accommodate a national speaker's schedule. Please check the Events Calendar for the latest meeting information. General Meetings are open and we encourage Guild members to bring guests.

Board Meetings Board meetings are held on the Tuesday preceding the general meeting at 7:00 P.M. at the home of the Guild President. These meetings are open to all Guild members.

We Are A Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Organization

The Guild is a non-profit organization, 501(c)(3), and in this capacity maintains the position that no business solicitation by members or others, except by invitation, is appropriate for any meeting or event sponsored by the guild.

Community Service

The guild's involvement with the community has a long, shared history. We provide quilts to anyone in need and respond to every request for them. Our workshops and lectures on the art of quilting are advertised and open to the community. We provide grants for teachers at all levels who design fiber art projects for use in their regular curriculum. Members in the guild are encouraged and expected to participate in these programs. Members are also encouraged to bring non-perishable foods, toiletries, and other household necessities to every meeting. These items are passed on to city and county agencies for distribution to needy individuals.
